Alternative Hospitality plans to break ground on its first health and wellness cannabis-based hotel later this year. Leading the company is hotel developer Roger Bloss, founder of Vantage Hospitality Group and its CEO until its sale to RLH Corporation in 2016.
Located in Desert Hot Springs, Calif., near the site of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the Coachill Inn Resort will feature 150 rooms, as well as an amphitheater for entertainment and a lazy-river pool. Alternative Hospitality also plans for each hotel to include a cannabis dispensary and wellness goods.
“The Coachill Inn Resort will attract travelers who are looking for an experience and the opportunity to safely experiment,” said Bloss in a statement. “People from all over the world come to the Coachella Valley for business, tourism and the famed Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals.
The company has seven additional projects under consideration: three in Las Vegas, two in California, one in Michigan and one in Oklahoma. Alternative Hospitality estimates these upper-midscale properties will cost approximately $125,000 per key to build, not including land costs.
Alternative Hospitality is a division of MJ Holdings. The diversified publicly traded holding company provides seed-to-sale services to the regulated cannabis industry.
